This week you watched the play A Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare.

What do you know about Shakespeare?
What did you think of the performance?
The play deals with the issue of IDENTITY.
How is IDENTITY discussed in today's world?
Should schools continue teaching Shakespeare?

Explain.

  1. I do not really know what Shakespeare is and I never learned about it. I personally did not like the performance this year, last years performance was a lot better. I feel like schools could give the same message as Shakespeare without all the plays and stuff, in my personal opinion shakespeare is useless and a waste of class time/ school.

  2. I don’t know alot about Shakespeare but I know he wrote many different famous plays such as Romeo and Juliet. I thought the play was ok this year. There were many parts that were good about it like the acting was fine. But some parts I didn't really like. I don’t think schools should keep teaching about Shakespeare because I think we should learn about things we need in life. Like how to do your taxes, how to pay bills, write checks, etc.

  3. i dont know much abut Shakespeare except for that he was an actor, poet and is really old. I thought the performance was funny. but i feel last years performance was a lot better. I dont think shake spear should be thought in schools except for reading books about him or stories he wrote.in the end its not really something were going to need in the future, I would rather learn about things like, how to properly write an essay or the rules of doing certain things. I think today identity is dangerous, because for example some people can be 40 year old men on dating apps and pretend to be 15 year old guys looking for people that they can meet with then kidnap them.

    1. I agree. Identity can be dangerous. People can lie about a lot of stuff. Good blog

  5. I don’t know a lot about Shakespeare. Just that he was a famous poet, writer and actor. I didn't really like the performance. There were some parts that were funny but the rest I did not like. I find that last year's play was better but that might be because we read the book before watching the play so I understood it better. Today, a lot of people can fake their identity on social media. They can lie about their age, what they look like, their name etc. I don’t think that schools should continue teaching shakespeare. I don’t get the point in learning it. It doesn’t seem very important.

  6. i was forced to learn about him in grade 5 for a presentation in ironically in english class i learnt most of the scripts and his life of course i forgot about it all but again it wasn't too important. the performanse was mylled i fill like if it was in the 80s it might of been a better performance but it being in the 80s devenly gave it a lot funnier to watch but knowing how the orignal was played it was a completely new story all most. identity too today all you got to do is search them up unless they of a fake name or fake backround, schools should bring a discussion about shake speer but not a hole subject about him.

  7. I know Shakespeare was an Englishman who created amazing pieces of theatre and that at the time he used old English as the main form of writing in his plays. I think the whole thing was pretty bad, I found the modernization of the play was horrible and some jokes were okay and I did agree that the modern day music is really horrible and that we have lost our way as a society because of it. Identity is discussed through our name and the ID card we carry and also with our birth year. Yes schools should continue to teach Shakespeare because it can be really fun and enjoying to see, learn and read about (the plays).

  8. I do not not know much about Shakespeare I jut know that he is famous for plays . I found the play to horrible with combining the story of comedy of errors and the 80s plus the time travelling I found the dancing horrible and the acting was cringy and horrible.Identity is today discuss is who you are . Schools should stop teaching Shakespeare because anybody who reads Shakespeare gets board.

  9. The only thing that I know about Shakespeare is that he was a british playwright who was alive during the 1500s. I did not like the performance. Why would they set something which was originally set in ancient greece to the 1980s? That whole thing with the time traveller just felt forced in there to do some stupid dance to modern music. When they mentioned tik tok and started dancing to old town road, it just felt like the company that was putting on the play was just desperately trying to relate to the “cool and hip younger generation”. Identity is discussed in today’s world mainly by the form of gender. More and more transgendered people are coming out of the closet in modern society. Some people are even inventing their own genders and pronouns. I find the whole pronouns bit kind of ridiculous though. I could say that I wanted to be called Xx_Dr4g0nSlay3r_xX, and you would all have to respect that. Schools should continue teaching Shakespeare, but not in the form of dumb plays (And if there still are plays, than they should be shown in the original way that Shakespeare had written them)
