Blog 15 - Monday, November 11, 2019

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week! No school Friday (again)!

Remembrance Day

What does Remembrance Day mean to you?

Do you think Remembrance Day will still be celebrated 50 years from now?

Recently, thieves have stolen poppy jars and poppies from multiple Tim Horton's restaurants.
Why are people so RUDE towards the Veterans who fought for our freedom?

Explain.

  1. To me remembrance day is the day we honor the soldiers that have fought for our country and made us the country we are today. I honesty don't think there will be a remembrance day in 50 years from now because so many people are disrespecting them already and are refusing to wear poppy's and don't think remembrance day is necessary, but I think it is very important. I think people are being rude because they don't understand what it is for or the are just plain old rude.

  2. Remembrance day is the day we remember what our soldiers in battles and wars did for us and our country. In 50 years I don't think we would be celebrating Remembrance day because I think people will start to forget. Like the memory is shortly fading away.I don't think it will go away if we use Remembrance day to remember our soldiers now. I don’t get why people are stealing poppy jars. Maybe they think it’s funny but there is no point of stealing the poppy jars.

  3. rememberance day to me means to respect the people who faught to save and protect our country so that we could have a future. yes i think remembrance day will be going on in 50 years. at least i hope, but i do believe it will because our generation still has a heart. meaning they aren’t as rude as society explains them to be. so i believe that remembrance day will still be going on in 50 years. i think the reason why people are steeling poppy’s is because they think it’s cool and probably don’t believe in remembrance day. or they haven’t heard about the stories about the war and what they did for us.

  4. I don’t really know how to answer this question, because I don’t know of any relatives of mine that have fought in the war so it’s not really personal I mean of course I’m super happy and grateful that they fought for us. I feel like it would be, but we can’t let people forget about it because it could happen but it doesn’t seem likely. I can’t believe people would do that because they were the ones that made this life possible. I don’t know if they have bad lives so they think that they were the ones that did that because they saved us so maybe they think some weird stuff I don’t know if my brain is not messed up like theirs. I just don’t know why people even thought of doing that.

  5. To me, Remembrance day is a day that is dedicated to remembering, respecting, and honouring all of the soldiers that fought, died, and were scarred in war. I surely hope and I do think that this day will still be celebrated fifty years from now because even though the veterans from the two world wars will all be dead, sadly I do not think that wars will ever stop. People are so rude towards veterans because they don’t care about what the veterans have experienced, they only care for themselves. I hope that the people who are so disrespectful are drafted into the military and are forced to go to war and suffer, just to come back home to be robbed and disrespected.

  9. What remembrance day means to me is that we should be very thankful for the brave soldiers who fought in the war for our freedom. In 50 years I do not think remembrance day will because of two reasons, one they will be caught up in a other war or they will forget because of technology. I don't know why people would steel the people stole the poppy jars but to me that is plain rude.

    1. With all respect I disagree, because if we stop caring about that because of technology we as a society and humans will have reached a new low and I don’t think that will happen because at least there are some good people on this planet remaining. And they will raise their children to be better people and it will go on and on and on. With all respect

  10. Yes I think we should still continue remembrance day for ever because if we don’t continue Remembrance Day day the sacrifice the soldiers made while fighting would go to waste and a lot of people we’re killed during the war and some were hurt and scared mentally because of the things they did and the things they saw. Remembrance Day means a lot to me because I feel if that we don’t commemorate the fallen and injured we would all be as evil and disgusting as the enemies, for example the nazis, the anti semites and the racist people on Earth.

  13. Remembrance day means a lot to me and so much more words to describe, I'm just happy that we are showing that we respect the people who respected us and protected us and without then we wouldnt be here and I am so thankful for that . But it's also to remember all those people who cared and faught for us in our society and some still doing today I am so thankful. I do think its gonna keep going in 50 years , this is something that should go forever because everyone deserves to know who these people are and what they did and never forget . I think what they did is horrible to steal these poppies but I also think they are stealing them because they wanna sell some for money , or wanted some and couldnt afford but either way they should never do that .
