Blog 4 - Monday, September 16, 2019

Last week, the federal government called an ELECTION.

One of the MAJOR topics is BILL 21 (banning of religious symbols in public).

How do you feel about BILL 21?
Should people be told that they MUST remove their religious symbol in public?

What is your HONEST opinion about this topic?
Explain.

  1. Bill 21 is the banning of religious symbols. I think that bill 21 is really stupid and makes no sense at all. Why does it matter, people should be able to wear whatever they want wherever they want. People who are religious should be able to wear what they have to because of their religion. We need to respect what people believe in our society. Therefore I think bill 21 should never be a thing.

  2. I feel that in my opinion it is very wrong to start banning this type of stuff. Bill 21 isn’t a very bright idea Some people are extremely religious and would give up their homes for this type of topic. This law is technically trying to change people. You can’t change someone from they're religion, it’s just not right. This is how people represent themselves, by either wearing a necklace or wearing specialized clothings. It shouldn’t be someone else’s choice to tell them what’s right and wrong.

  3. I absolutely hate bill 21, and I honestly think that whoever came up with it should be arrested. I heard a story about a teacher somewhere in Quebec being fired for wearing a hijab, and it made me sick.I do not care if I get lower grades for saying this, but anyone who agrees with bill 21 is insane. Do you know where else in the world you are not allowed to show religion? North Korea. Kim Jong Un has banned all religion in his country because he wants his people to worship him as a god. Now I’m not saying that the Quebec government is as crazy a Kim Jong Un, but I am saying that if bill 21 is passed, Quebec will not be free anymore. What could the benefits of this be? Nothing. The Quebec government might as well separate from Canada, and become its own dictatorship.

  4. I don’t feel that bill 21 is necessary. Teachers should be allowed to wear religious symbols if they want to. If religion is really important to them they should be able to wear a necklace with a cross. As long as the person does not to impose their beliefs on others, religious symbols should be permitted. People should be able to wear religious symbols in public.

  5. I think in my opinion bill 21 is not worthy or needed to be in this world , because if people want to wear their religious things i feel like they have a right to some people do not feel safe without them and i dont think its necessary for them to not wear what they wanna wear cause for some people that who they are and we gotta respect them. I don't think people should be forced or to be told to remove their religious symbols it's a free world here and if people wanna dress the way the wanna i feel like they should have the right to. I just i dont think its right like people deserve to be who they want to be and no one should be forced to not wear what they wanna i don't approve and i don't understand what the point was for bill 21.

  6. In my opinion bill 21 is really dumb because wearing a cross or a star of david or anything like that will not make a difference other than to make the government happy, most of the kids don't care or even notice. The world is supposed to be going forwards and getting better and accepting people for their religion, race, sexuality and all that but instead we are going backwards and making them pick between their beliefs and their job and how they make money. I understand that they are trying to stop having people force religion on someone but I don't think this is the way to do it.

  7. I don't feel comfortable with bill 21 because it suppresses immigrants to learn English.they shouldn't be told what they can and can not do people have the right to support their faith.
My opinion on bill 21 is that it’s wrong and racist in that sense when you come to Quebec your forced to learn french before your aloud to learn English.

  9. It’s so stupid, why would people have to take of there religouse symboles? It’s not like it’s hurting you or something! It’s just a part of who they are. They should be aloud to wear what they want just like how we are aloud to not wear a religious symbol. There’s not really a real reason that they need to give up anything, besides the fact that some people just want to give them up. We just shouldn’t make them give them up, it’s not right.

  10. I don’t agree with BILL 21 because it’s their culture and you wouldn’t like it if someone told you to do something that would involve taking off your kippa or hijab. If you don’t like it that’s fine but you don’t need to make it a law that people shouldn’t be wearing their religious symboles. My personal opinion on this is that you shouldn’t be making a law that would affect people’s culture. Wearing a religious symbole is a part of their culture and you shouldn’t be taking that away from them,it’s not like it’s hurting anyone.

  11. In my opinion I find that BILL 21 is wrong. People should be able to wear whatever they want and nothing should stop them. There shouldn’t be rules on what they can or cannot wear. I think that people should not be told that they must remove their religious symbol in public. A lot of people don’t even realise that some people are wearing them and if they did notice they wouldn’t even care. They should respect them and their religion.

  12. I feel that BILL 21 is not fair to the people who are religious and where special items on them.I think it’s like discrmination that there doing this it’s not fair to the person and the religion. No people shouldn’t be asked to take off their religious items because it’s special to them and means a lot to them.I personally think that this BILL 21 thing should get removed immediately because it’s not fair.

  13. I don’t like bill 21 because if I were to work at a government related job I would be forced to remove my crucifix witch is part of my religion to wear and I never take it off for any reason unless it’s a matter of security or if it’s against the rules in some situations. And it’s not only about me other people with different religions would be forced to remove their hijab or their necklace with the Star of David. Forcing people to remove something that is part of their life is horrible and it frowns on the Canadian government. When it was in the discussion of passing the law or not I thought that it would make Canada and Quebec look bad but at least it for everyone and not one single religion. But I find that it targets muslims and it just coverup that it’s for everyone.

  14. I am against this rule because you need to take off all your religious symbols and it is kind off unfair because we have been a country of freedom and now it is being taken away from use that will upset some people . Teachers and people that want to be a government related job need to remove it here symbol and it is not right because people were not used to take it off . They should have done this rule a long time ago if they wanted not in this century beacause we feel like your taking the freedom away from use
